17 Year Old Boy Pleads Guilty for Killing Gay Classmate

Brandon McInerney, 17, pleaded guilty for killing a homosexual classmate and was sentenced for 21 years of imprisonment. For the meantime, McInerney will serve time in a juvenile detention center until he turns 18. Further, McInerney will get no credit for the time already served and was ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution for the damage caused.

Last month, McInerney pleaded guilty to the crime he had committed against Lawrence King "under the penal code sections for both murder and voluntary manslaughter," as well as to using a firearm in that crime. According to justice officials, he will serve 11 years for manslaughter and 10 years for the use of a firearm.

Court documents proved that McInerney was 14 years old when he brought a handgun belonging to relatives and shot the 15-year-old Lawrence King twice at point-blank range in the back of the head. According to friends of King, he was proud of being a homosexual and would often wear jewelry, high-heeled shoes and makeup. King also loved to be called Leticia instead of his real name and some students bullied him in school.

Some students said that King had a crush on McInerney and has made it known to the public. This is one of the reasons why McInerney killed King, according to students.
