Chelsea Handler Could Do Netflix Show

Chelsea Handler, host of the popular E! show Chelsea Lately is said to be in talks with the subscription based service Netflix for a new show. While Netflix refused to comment the news, sources close to both parties said that while negotiations are still being carried out the deal is nowhere near being done.

The talk show host’s manager, Irving Azoff said that Handler intends to leave the E! Network when her contract expires at the end of 2014 after an eight year collaboration. Azoff also said that there are at least seven possible new opportunities for his client and a number of other show ideas.

Azoff said that some of Handler’s most interesting future prospects could include a radio show, or a daily or weekly late night presence on a different network or digital service.

Speculation that Handler would not renew her E! contract has been circulating for ages as the comedienne harshly criticized her network for poor programming and blamed the less than impressive lead-ins for the steady decline in ratings.

Handler was also rumored to be a new CBS late night host after posing an Instagram photo with papers bearing the CBS logo. The network quickly dismissed the possibility of Handler taking over the 12:30am slot form Craig Ferguson or any other collaboration between the two parties.
