Emirates Airline Purchase 50 More Airbus A380
The main airline of the United Arab Emirates, Emirates Airlines has chosen to purchase an additional 50 Airbus A380, in what is considered to be a deal worth over $20 billion. The airplane manufacturer announced the news this Monday raising the total number of ordered Airbus A380’s to 140.
The French based Airbus company said that they successfully completed negotiations with the Emirates airline, one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, and signed a deal for an extra 50 Airbus A380s. While the order would exceed the $20 billion mark, airplane manufacturers often include significant discounts for orders of this caliber.
Emirates Airline’s Tim Clark released a statement this Monday saying that the A380 is the “flagship aircraft” for their airline and an aircraft that has managed to deliver great results in terms of operational performance, this being the reason for the added order of 50 airplanes.
John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer of Customers for Airbus said that the new order is a vote of confidence for the A380, and praised Emirates who now have the largest fleet of operating Airbus A380 in the world with 44 aircrafts.
He finished by congratulating Emirates, one of the top ten airlines in the world, on their achievements, and thanking them for their continued support.
