February 8 Launch For Surface Pro

Microsoft is set to unveil the Surface Pro just before the midnight when it will be officially available in the market. This is similar to the way it released the Surface RT tablet last October.

An exclusive event for VIP guests is planned by Microsoft on February 8 and the formal launch of the Surface Pro will happen prior to midnight at the Union Square outlet of Bet Buy in New York City. The guests of the event will have the opportunity to purchase the Surface Pro or the Surface Windows 8 Pros.

The invitation to the event revealed that Panos Panay, the general manager of the Microsoft Surface Team of Microsoft will grace the event along with the other Windows team members. The event is supposedly not a press event.

The Surface RT tablet of Microsoft was launched at the pop-up store of Microsoft at Times Square.

Officials at Microsoft had revealed earlier that the Surface Pro will enter the market on February 9. For the moment it remains uncertain if the company will accept pre-orders for its new model of the tablet.

Microsoft is apparently going to position the Surface Pro as an ultrabook rather than a tablet. The device is hybrid tablet/PC that features an Intel processor. The Core i5 processor of the Surface Pro will cut its battery by half when compared to the Surface RT tablet. However, it will have a better screen display and will offer more power compared to the initial model of the device.

The upcoming Surface Pro tablet will have a base price tag of $899. The company revealed that the upcoming model of the tablet will be available in all retail outlets of Microsoft in Canada and the United States as well the Microsoftstore.com. Best Buy and Staples outlets in the United States as well as several locations in Canada will also offer the upcoming Surface Pro tablet.
