Hello App Introduced By Facebook

A new Facebook dialer app for Android-powered smartphones was unveiled by the social network recently. Facebook revealed that the Hello app allows users to block unwanted calls as well as facilitate searching for people and places by using data taken from its network.

The introduction of the app allowed Facebook to enter a communication form that it has mainly avoided in the past – phone calls. While the social network said that the app is currently being evaluated, it is already available for download through the Google Play store.

The Facebook dialer app can serve as a replacement for the pre-installed dialer on Android-powered smartphones.

The Messenger team of Facebook was behind the development of the Hello App, which gives users information about the person calling them. This information is also available even if the number of the caller is not saved on the phone of the user. But, the information shown is limited to what users have shared to friends or the public through Facebook.

The app also allows users to block certain numbers and send the call to their voice mail. It can also be used in searching for people and businesses with a Facebook account and allows users to call them with a single tap on the touch screen. Wi-Fi networks can be used by the app in allowing users to make free calls.

The app is currently available in select markets, including Brazil, Nigeria and the United States. The success of the software on the Android operating system will determine if the Hello app will be offered to iOS users.
