Joey Feeks Optimistic About Beating Cancer

Even if the weakened state of Joey Feek prevents her from getting out of bed, the country singer is still optimistic that she can beat cancer. An update was provided by her husband, Rory Feek, recently. The 40-year-old country star is currently battling terminal cervical cancer and is currently under hospice care in Alexandria, Indiana.

Rory revealed through his blog that while his wife cannot get out of bed anymore, she is still “sharp and clear.” He added that medication has controlled much of the pain and she talks normally despite her condition. Rory also said she is thinner and has a new hairdo.

Rory said the will to live of Joey Feek is very strong especially for Indiana, their 21-month-old daughter. He added that Indiana becomes excited each time she visits her mother. He also said that his wife always tells them that she will beat it or that she believes she will become better. Rory added that he also tells her he believes it when she asks him.

Joey experiences an upturn every time her doctor or her family believes the time is near. Rory also said the past few days were incredible and they started to believe “that God is answering Joey’s prayer” by removing the cancer and healing her.

Rory pointed out that the hospice care provided to his wife does not automatically mean that the end is near. He said it is not unusual for people to live for six months or more while under hospice care. Rory added that his mother lived for another four months when she was under hospice care for cancer.

Fans of the Feeks started following the journey of the country duo since May 2014 through the blog of Rory as well as their Facebook page. The cervical cancer diagnosis was made three months after she gave birth to Indiana. Treatments were stopped by Joey Feek sometime in October after it was discovered to be ineffective.
