Rep Reveals Gene Hackman Is Very Much Alive

Following an article headlining from grantland.com that Gene Hackman was “gone” at the age of 85, industry watchers were apprehensive about the health of the legendary actor. Hackman is actually 84 years old and will not turn 85 until Friday, his representative confirmed.

While the title of the article already shows that the word “gone” was changed into “retired,” the change came after a number of tweets were made sending condolences to the family of the legendary actor. In fact a Facebook page was created claiming that the acting legend passed away on Monday. The “RIP Gene Hackman” Facebook page indicated that while the actor will be missed, he will not be forgotten. It also encouraged visitors to show their condolences and sympathy by making comments on the page as well as liking it. The people who were initially surprised with the article, which was run on Grantland, were relieved after they found out that the actor was alive. A representative of Hackman revealed that the star of “Hoosiers” is very much alive. However, some actors, such as Dylan McDermott, were disappointed that many people accepted the headline without reading the entire story. McDermott initially sent out a tweet saying “Rest in Peace” to the legend, but he removed it after he discovered it was a hoax. The good news is the fact that Gene Hackman is very much alive and can celebrate his birthday at the end of the week.
