Rickie Fowler Wins Scottish Open

Rickie Fowler struggled to get his bearings for a good part of the day at the Scottish Open on Sunday. He was behind Matt Kuchar and a number of Europeans during the tournament, which comes before the British Open.

He hit a pair of bogeys along with a birdie as the last few holes were approaching. However, he was able to recover in time as he finished with three birdies and a par to win his first European Tour. The last shot proved to be the most effective since he needed to get a par to go into a playoff with Kuchar. Fowler had a birdie in the last hole to seal the win.

Fowler said his name was mentioned by Phil Mickelson as the one who will win the Scottish Open. He added that Mickelson also said he has a good chance of winning the British Open in the coming week. Due to this, he said he needed to take care of business.

He added that links golf is his favorite but he does not know what makes it special. He said the course may have different each day, which offers a new challenge for him. He added that Gullane was a good test for him.

On the other hand, Kuchar asked if Rickie Fowler hit a birdie as he was preparing for a playoff with the American player. After he was told that Fowler hit a birdie, Kuchar shook his head and said “little Rickie.” It may be possible for Fowler to rise to the top five in the Open Championship ranking in the coming week. He is among the favorites to end the run of Jordan Spieth. Last season, Rickie Fowler ended T2 with Rory McIlroy. He appears to have a good game during events in Scotland, with two top five finishes during the Open plus his latest win at the Scottish Open.
