Three Spanish Stag Weekend Destinations for 2012 – Latest News

You might associate the ritual of the stag do with Britain and the kebab-strewn streets at 4 in the morning trying to shepherd your mates into a taxi back to the hotel but an increasing number of men are heading overseas for stag weekends abroad. Why take a chance on the weather on English shores when you can go away to the guarantee of blistering temperatures and golden sands just as easily and, in many cases, cheaply.

1. Ibiza

The Ibiza stag do has grown exponentially in popularity in recent years as more mature groups look for some high-end luxury as part of their pre-wedding party. All the clubbers have grown up and Ibiza has gone all introspective and cool, especially if you’re over 30, leaving the first-holiday-teens to Magaluf and the other party isles. Ibiza still packs a mean punch for nightlife though, it’s just a little more refined. Clubs may cost, in some cases, extortionate amounts to get into but you will be rewarded with memorable, ornate interiors with some international headline DJs on the bill. That’s all without mentioning the scorching weather and miles of coastlines.

2. Marbella

Ibiza isn’t the only sizzling Spanish destination that has grown in popularity for stag weekends, Marbella, too, has seen staggering numbers of men heading over for their stag parties. The warm waters of the Mediterranean lapping across the shore are probably the only thing that’s calm about a Marbella stag do, thanks to the top nightlife scene that the resort offers. There are also lots of activities that you would associate with British stag parties to create a perfect cross-pollination of a trip. Paintballing, go-karting and jet-skiing are just three such activities to get into the mix of a stag party of adrenalin-fuelled chaos.

3. Barcelona

Barcelona might only be seen as Spain’s second city but it leaves even the capital in the shade when it comes to throwing parties. A cosmopolitan city, Barcelona boasts some of the world’s best restaurants, not to mention, bars and clubs, making a stand-out option for a stag party. Barcelona is also, of course, home to one of the greatest football teams that there’s ever been. It’s possible to get tickets to see Lionel, Xavi and Iniesta in the flesh if you ask around and that is a once in the lifetime opportunity if ever there was one for your Barcelona stag do.

So there you have it, three incredible Spanish stag party destinations to give any would-be best man some inspiration ahead of that acid test of planning a successful party.
