Users Can Remove Pre-Installed Apps On The Samsung Galaxy S6

The Samsung Galaxy S6 or the S6 Edge may allow users to disable or uninstall pre-installed applications. Screenshots of the new smartphone offering of the South Korean company posted on the XDA Developers forum showed a number of applications already disabled while other Samsung apps had deletion symbols.

The device is set to be released into the market by April 10. A number of industry watchers criticized previous models of the Galaxy devices of Samsung due to the huge number of applications that cannot be removed. While Samsung has already reduced the number of apps on its latest Galaxy phone models, users may still find some apps they do not want to have on their smartphones.

Google is currently facing a number of antitrust issues due to its supposed policy that compels Android device manufacturers to include a number of applications on the Android devices they manufacture. These standard applications include YouTube, Google Play, and Google Search. The creator of the Android OS was accused in a lawsuit filed last May of setting up secret agreements with device makers using the Android OS. These agreements ensure that the applications of Google are installed into Android devices. Google is also being eyed for some antitrust violations associated with pre-loaded applications by the European Union. A probe on Google due to this issue was also asked by Yandex, a search engine based in Russia.

Providing users the ability to remove pre-installed applications on the Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge may be appealing to users who do not like these apps. It also gives Google a way out of the antitrust lawsuits it is currently facing since it can indicate that users can easily remove any applications they do not want to have on their devices.

The post on the XDA Developers forum indicated that users can disable or permanently delete applications on the Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge. Although applications can be deleted from the smartphone, users can still download the deleted application from the app store of Samsung or the Google Play store. Samsung did not release any statements in connection to the supposed screenshots of the Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge.
