Verizon and Sprint offer free calls and text messages to France

Both popular US cellular networks, Verizon and Sprint, are offering free international calls and text messages to France to all their customers in the United States. The offering is for this weekend so that families in the US can contact their loved ones in France in the aftermath of the unprecedented attacks in Paris on Friday.

Verizon said in a press release:

"Wireless customers will incur no charges for texts or international long distance calls originating from the U.S. to France starting November 13 through November 15, 2015 (applicable taxes and surcharges will apply). Home telephone customers can make free calls to France from their U.S. landlines from November 13 through November 15, 2015 (applicable taxes and surcharges will apply)."

Sprint in a press release said:

"Sprint is waiving international long distance, roaming and SMS charges to France for all Sprint, Boost and Virgin Mobile customers in the wake of the devastating events in Paris yesterday. Effective Nov. 13, 2015, all Sprint postpaid and prepaid customers from anywhere around the world will receive free international long distance usage to France until a yet-to-be determined date."
