Xiaomi Mi Band 2 Fitness tracker Unveiled

Another cheap activity tracker is set to be launched by Xiaomi soon. The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness tracker features an OLED display, which is touted to be scratch resistant and has suitable brightness to see under direct sunlight. The new fitness tracker is priced at $23 and will enter the Chinese market on June 7.

The time, calories burned, heart rate number of steps taken, and battery charge, among others, will be shown on the display. Users can switch the data displayed on the screen through a button on the device. They can also customize the information displayed on the screen.

Fitness bands have started to gain a following in the market. While these wearable devices may not have the feature found on smartwatches, their definite purpose has proven to be appealing to consumers. These devices are typically friendly to the budget of consumers.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 also features an accelerometer, which can count the number of steps taken by the user accurately. An integrated sensor also determines the heart rate of the user. A single battery charge lasts up to around twenty day, which is ten days lower than the original device.

The device comes in a number of colors, including orange, black, blue and green. The silicone bands of the device can also be replaced. The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 is the third device offered by the company in this category following its release of the Mi Band and the Mi Band Pulse.

The wearable devices of the company may be relatively unknown outside the Chinese market, but it has a suitable share of the smartwatch and fitness band market. While the company is more popular for its smartphone offerings, it was second only to Fitbit when it came to the number of the wearables it sold last quarter. But, IDC revealed that its share of the market declined from 22.4 percent to 19 in the same quarter last year. IDC indicated that the success of the company was based on its popularity in the China, but expanding beyond the Chinese borders is its biggest obstacle so far.

The company did not give any timetable for the release of the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 outside the market in China.
