Beyonce and dad end managing arrangement

Beyonce Knowles and her father Mathew Knowles have decided to end their business partnership. Beyonce has been managed by her father since she was a member of the teen group Destiny's Child in the late 90s.

Mathew Knowles continued to manage his daughter's rise to fame as a solo pop superstar in the past decade. Beyonce Knowles had won 16 Grammys and secured lucrative endorsements and business ventures, with the guidance of her father through the years.

A statement from the artist's publicist was given to AP about the split, the reason for which was not disclosed.

"I am grateful for everything he has taught me," the singer said. "I grew up watching both he and my mother manage and own their businesses. They were hardworking entrepreneurs and I will continue to follow in their footsteps."

Beyonce Knowles teamed up with fellow teens Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams to form the R&B group Destiny's Child. Mathew Knowles oversaw the group's recording and business deals. In addition to managing his own daughter's career, he also managed those of Williams and Rowland even when the trio split and went on to launch their respective solo careers.

In the same statement, Beyonce said nothing has changed between her and his father on a personal basis. "He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me," she said.

For his part, Mathew Knowles also issued a statement saying that the decision was mutual and that "business is business and family is family." He then wished continued success in the future for his daughter Beyonce Knowles.
