New Ebola Cases Suspected In Florida And Connecticut

The Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut announced that a person who recently traveled to the west African country of Liberia, one of the hardest hit countries by the Ebola epidemic has been admitted this Wednesday with symptoms similar to the deadly virus.

Thursday morning, another U.S. hospital, this time the Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida has announced that a patient who has recently traveled to west Africa was put in quarantine after displaying Ebola like symptoms as well.

The medical team at Yale-New Haven released an official press release where they announced that while the case has not yet been confirmed they are not ruling out any diagnostic. The medical team at Jackson Memorial Hospital also made a public announcement saying that the patient is unlikely to have contracted the deadly virus. The medical team there also mentioned that the quarantined patient has flu like symptoms but no fever, and the reason for his admittance was self-reported contact with a west African person.

The new possible cases come just as Congress is investigating the unsure medical response that hospitals from across the country have had to the current Ebola outbreak.

Currently, the only confirmed cases of Ebola that were transmitted on U.S. soil remain the two nurses from Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital who cared for Thomas Eric Duncan, the Liberian man who died less than a week ago from Ebola.

Two nurses have now contracted the deadly virus despite wearing full personal protection equipment while caring for Thomas Eric Duncan, a Liberian man who died last week of Ebola at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.
