Tony Romo Breaks Left Clavicle As The Dallas Cowboys Win

Quarterback Tony Romo broke his left clavicle during the game of the Dallas Cowboys against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Romo left the game and did not return as the Cowboys beat the Eagles, 20 - 10.

Jordan Hicks and Fletcher Cox took down Romo in the backfield during third quarter. Dallas was leading at this time by 13 - 10. The takedown knocked the ball out of the hands of the star quarterback as Hicks came down hard on his throwing shoulder. The other shoulder of Romo was driven hard into the ground during the scuffle.

Romo was later seen favoring his non-throwing arm as he walked off the field and into the locker room. After an x-ray, Cowboys media and programming senior director Derek Eagleton tweeted that the clavicle of Romo was fractured. The post was retweeted by the main Twitter account of the Dallas Cowboys.

The left clavicle of Tony Romo was also injured in October 2010 when the Cowboys lost to the San Francisco Giants. The injury caused him to miss the last ten games of the season. Romo said he expects to return to the team before the end of the season in an interview after the game. He said he had the same injury in the past and they will deal with it.

Tony Romo played well before the injury as he completed 18 of 27 passes for the Dallas Cowboys for 195 yards. The season of Dallas is in jeopardy as the injury of Romo follows reports that the foot injury of Dez Bryant was more complicated than what the team initially expected. Bryant may miss ten to 12 weeks after his injury. The official status of Romo has yet to be announced by the team.

Brandon Weeden replaced Romo in the game. The 2012 first round draft of the Cleveland Browns had 26 career touchdown passes along with 28 interceptions in the 28 games he played when he entered the game. Weeden completed all his seven passes for 73 yards along with a touchdown by the end of the game.

Since the Dallas Cowboys lack a third quarterback in their roster, they are expected to look for a veteran backup while Tony Romo recuperates from his injury.
