2011 Most Corrupt Nations: North Korea and Somalia Top List
A German watchdog based in Berlin released their latest survey about the most and least corrupt nations of the world. This organization is an independent, nonpartisan Transparency International group which based its conclusions on various assessments and survey results.
Likewise, Transparency International has 90 chapters all over the world and aims to improve and practice ways effectively to fight corruption.
According to their survey, New Zealand is the least corrupt country, while Somalia and North Korean are the most corrupt. Other countries such as United Stated ranked 24th, Bahamas ranked 21; Canada ranked 10th and Chile is in 22nd place. Top ranks are landed by Europian countries, with the exception of New Zealand. Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Netherlands are other nations that likewise occupy the top spots. Meanwhile, nations that landed in the bottom list are Afghanistan, Myanmar, Turkmenistan, Sudan, Iraq, Haiti, Myanmar and Venezuela.
According to Transparency International, conclusions were derived from surveys that questions bribery of officials, kickbacks and malversation of public funds. Likewise results were obtained through the methods or means applied to strengthen and practice anti-corruption efforts of the public sector. Basing on the outcomes, it simply proves that government failed to protect their citizens from corruption, whether it is an abuse of public funds, bribery or poor and secretive decision-making.
