3 Oddest Destinations In Europe

Europe is an amazing destination with diverse countries that have a rich offer of culture and sights, along with other amazing draws for any type of tourist. However, if you prefer a more alternative vacation here is a list with some less known and definitely the oddest destinations Europe has to offer.

Capuchin Catacombs – Italy

Palermo, Italy hosts a somewhat eerie monastery. In the late 16th century, monks discovered that the bodies laid to rest in catacombs under the monastery had become naturally mummified. News of this made it “the” place to be buried so by now, 8000 impeccably preserved mummies await tourists in the catacombs.

Medieval Crime Museum – Germany

Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber hosts a fantastic collection of medieval torture devices at the Medieval Crime Museum. The items were used to punish crimes of the day, ranging from minor offences like falling asleep in church or being a bad baker, to heresy and witchcraft. Such items include “the mask of shame”, “the iron maide”, or “the baker’s baptism”.

Edinburgh Vaults – Scotland

The Edinburgh Vaults are considered one of the most haunted places on the planet, and as creepy underground catacombs go, they are quite scary. Add their history of being brothels, and serial killer hangouts and you've got a great tourist attraction. Many visitors of the Vaults said they have seen the ghost of a faceless man, and an altogether bad vibe from one of the oddest destinations in Scotland.
