4.8 magnitude earthquake hits south-southeast of San Jose de Ocoa, Dominican Republic
An earthquake hit the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean on Wednesday, November 25th 2015. According to United State Geological Survey, the quake was of magnitude 4.8 on the Richter Scale.
The epicenter of the earthquake was about 16km SSE of San Jose de Ocoa, Dominican Republic. The quake struck at 8:38pm local time ( or 7:38pm Eastern Standard Time).
The tremor was felt by many local residents. Fortunately, no damage or casualties have been reported so far.
The United States Tsunami Warning Center has mentioned that there is no imminent threat of a tsunami due to this earthquake.
