Mother Accused of killing her own daughter, Acquitted!
Orlando, Florida — After a long, publicized trial and investigation over the alleged murder of her own 2-year-old daughter, the defendant, Casey Anthony was found not guilty of the said crime last Tuesday.
The case had sparked the interest of the public since it made national television, the moment the young Caylee was reported missing. The 25-year-old Anthony began crying when the final verdict was read after a grueling 10 hours of deliberation. She was however, found guilty of four counts of lying and will be receiving her sentence on Thursday, which was due to her stories that mislead the investigation of the authorities regarding the disappearance of her daughter.
The lack of hard evidence to convict Anthony may have been the key to her acquittal, from the absence of DNA on the alleged duct tape she used to suffocate her daughter and the proper identification of the odor found in the family car.
Despite the criticisms received by Anthony's defense lawyer, Jose Baez, in the end he just related that, 'This case has brought on new challenges of all of us. Challenges in the criminal justice system, challenges in the media, and I think we should all take this as an opportunity to learn and to realize that you cannot convict someone until they've had their day in court."
