UK Newspaper Investigations Being Sabotage?
Several leaks aimed to distract the details of the inquiry on the phone-hacking scandal were made to sabotage the investigation, according to the British police.
London's Evening Standard has released a front page story regarding the allegations that the police was selling pertinent information regarding the queen and closest aides, and according to a statement from Scotland Yard, the said report is an attempt to undermine the more important issue, which is the alleged bribery made by corrupt journalists to corrupt police officers. This scandal is part of the reason why Rupert Murdoch was prompted to close down the tabloid, the News of the World.
The Evening Standard also noted that officials at News Corp., which is the News International's parent company, found numerous e-mails that prove of certain employees' involvement in making payments to Scotland Yard members to obtain information about the queen. The newspaper however, didn't give out any details regarding the source of these information.
The Scotland Yard expressed their concern regarding the story and allegations made by the Evening Standard, according to them, certain details of the investigation is only known to a small number of people and if such information continues to leak out, the investigation may be at stake.
