Raspberry Pi 3 Included In Microsoft Kit

The Raspberry Pi 3 will become more user-friendly for people without hardware experience who want to become device makers. Microsoft is working with the Seeed Studio of China to create the Seeed Windows 10 IoT Core Grove Kit.

The kit consists of all the software and hardware required to create a new device. The kit has a Raspberry Pi 3, cables, screen, connectors and a breakout board. The kit will be released into the market by summer, but no price tag was announced by the two companies.

Microsoft lead principal program manager Daniel Rosenstein said the kit is for people who have some hardware knowledge and interested in working with software, but are anxious about putting together a device.

The kit was unveiled in a presentation during the Build conference last week. Rosenstein shared some ways money can be made using the $35 investment on the minicomputer. As the company is aiming to introduce Windows 10 into more devices, Microsoft is supporting developers who want to make new devices and IoT equipment. The minicomputer is compatible with the Windows 10 IoT Core, which is a leaner version of the OS.

Numerous devices can be made using the software and hardware in the kit. A number of projects were listed by Microsoft on its website, including a reconnaissance robot and a face recognition door.

The kit aims to keep things simple and since it already has all the necessary connector cables, makers will not have to look for them on the internet. It will not be necessary to solder anything in the kit, which removes one complicated procedure for developer boards.

The breakout board offers connectivity to other parts such as servos, sensors, and LED bars. The Raspberry Pi 3 can be easily installed on the board. The minicomputer is capable of working with a small number of components and sensors. The breakout board also offers connectivity to other parts such as analog input and output, SPO, GPIO and I2C.

The Raspberry Pi 3 was released into the market in February and has a number of features, including Wi-Fi connectivity and a 64-bit ARM processor.
