American Olympic Skier Dead at 29
Salt Lake City, Utah — Jeret Peterson, Olympic Skier, committed suicide ending his life at the age of 29 after he was arrested few days ago for drunken driving. The Association of the United States Ski and Snowboard confirmed Tuesday about the Peterson’s death due to suicide.
The Olympic Skier’s life ended when he shot himself three days after he was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. He was able to get out of the prison cell after he posted a $500 bail in Idaho’s Blaine County Jail. Peterson pleaded not guilty for the charges of drunk driving and over-speeding. After the suicide, Police in Salt Lake City didnt answer and return calls to give details about the death of Peterson.
There was an imposed 25 mph local speed limit in South Central Idaho where Peterson was arrested but he was driving at the speed of 70 mph. During the investigation, he was suspected to be drunk while driving. He did not pass the 3 sobriety tests to determine if the driver is indeed drunk while driving.
At the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, Peterson won the silver medal in the men’s competition in the freestyle aerials event. Peterson plans to complete at the 2012 season while he is still studying as a full time student at Salt Lake City’s Westminster College.
