China Lauches First Aircraft Carrier
Beijing - China, the Red Dragon of the East, has launched its first aircraft carrier for a test trial run Wednesday that boosted strong Chinese patriotic pride back at home and jitters internationally about China's strong naval ambitions. The aircraft carrier, a former USSR vessel refitted, will mark China's strategic plan to build a naval force that will dominated the Far Eastern Seas.
The aircraft carrier will strengthen the Chinese supremacy in the region where territorial disputes abound and heavy shipping routes thrive. Ni Lexiong, a Chinese maritime expert, said that the vessel has more symbolic significance than practical significance. China needs the appropriate force, whether battleships and aircraft carriers, the same way the British Empire and the United States started before becoming a World Power.
The aircraft carrier started its maiden run Wednesday from the port in Dalian where it was prepared before its actual run. The vessel is about 984 feet or 300 meters long. China has been very aggressive in its dreams of becoming a naval force in the Asian Region to safeguard primarily the Chinese national interests amid tensions and territorial disputes with neighboring countries. It means a lot to the Chinese Public hearing this good news after the recent bullet train incident that has embarrassed China in the international community.
China will now receive the respect of other countries for this recent accomplishment considered as a great milestone in the history of China.
