Mexican President Vows to Eradicate Drug Syndicates
Mexican President Vows to Eradicate Drug Syndicates. Mexico City — Felipe Calderon, Mexican President, vowed Friday that he will strongly fight till the last day of his term as president to eradicate the growing number of drug syndicates that are continuously sprouting like mushrooms in many towns, and even in the law-enforcing bodies like police institutions in some parts of Mexico. In his recent annual state of the nation address, Calderon promised to clean up the rampant corruption among the police and even the federal attorneys before he leaves office December of next year.
Calderon gave homage to the 52 people killed in a casino fire last week. The attack was presumed as an extortion attack by cartel members Zetas from Monterrey, northern Mexican city. Calderon has also announced the immediate creation of a new government agency perhaps a federal prosecutor dedicated only to violence and cruelty victims.
The job of the prosecutor is to identify people who are victims and immediately rescue people who are at the hands of the extremist criminal groups. The person who will become the newest prosecutor will have a major role in closing and healing the wounds that are open for quite some time and left unaided in Mexico’s justice system. Calderon’s speech centered more on the victims; he vowed the incident won’t happen again under his term.
