9/11 10th year Anniversary Remembered at NYC
New York - 10 years after the deadly September 11 attack, New Yorkers realized how dangerous it is to live in a city formerly considered by many as vibrant and dynamic. As time goes by, they learned to live with all the dangers just waiting to strike back. Despite the series of attacks 10 years ago have changed the life of each American and will never be the same again, many New Yorkers are now ready to move on with their lives.
Before the 10th year commemoration celebration on Sunday, Police heightened security force throughout New York City since Friday after intelligence reports of a possible attack plotted by Al Qaeda in time for the commemoration celebration. Along Manhattan, police intensified check points and searched each passing vehicles just to secure the whole city. It was not new for an ordinary New Yorker and was already used to security alerts as part of his normal life.
New Yorkers already showed signs of getting tired of the many terms used to refer to the terrorist attacks such as 9/11 and Ground Zero. Michael Bloomberg, New York City Mayor, encouraged people to stop calling the place where the Twin Towers formerly stood as Ground Zero, a term that implies so much violence. Survivors and family of the deceased wished to no longer recall the pain and memories of the deadly incident.
