PGA Tour Money Ranking Top Spot: Simpson vs Donald

Webb Simpson, American golfer, is expecting to have a very close and tight battle against the current world number 1, Luke Donald, for the coming week in an attempt by both golfers to top the end of season money list of the PGA Tour for the first time. Both golfers will be heading to Florida in the final golf tournament in the Fall Series of the U.S. circuit. The w inner will take home $846,000 from the tournament’s total prize offer of $4.7 million.

Donald has been attempting to become the first golfer to top both the European and U.S. money lists for the same season but Simpson will be there to give Donald a strong challenge.  Despite a playoff defeat last Sunday in the McGladrey Classic to Ben Crane, American compatriot, Simpson’s winning of $363,029 was enough to slightly edge Donald at the current money list rank. Donald was absent during the tournament to attend a wedding ceremony of a friend.

Donald needs to finish at least 2nd at the last tournament in Florida starting Thursday to dislodge Simpson and top the money list. In 25 golf tournaments, Simpson had earned $6.2 million while Donald earned $5.84 million only in 18 events.
