Taylor Swift Beats Lady Gaga for Artist of the Year in 2011 AMA

At the American Music Awards, two of the in-demand stars namely Taylor Swift and Adele were tied with three wins. However, the night belonged to Taylor Swift as she won the “artist of the year”, beating Adele, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Lil Wayne.

Taylor Swift also garnered trophies for “favorite country female artist” and “favorite country album” for her album, Speak Now.

Other winners in the 2011 American Music Awards were Maroon 5, who won the title of “favorite pop-rock band/duo/group; Beyonce was also successfully chosen as the “favorite soul/R&B female artist”; Nicki Minaj was declared, “favorite hip-hop artist”; Bruno Mars likewise won the title as the “favorite pop/rock male artist”; Rihanna for “favorite soul/R&B album” entitled, Loud; Hot Chelle Rae for “new artist of the year” and Lady Antebellum as the “favorite country band/duo/group”.

The 3-hour ceremony was held in Nokia Theatre Los Angeles, California last rainy Sunday, November 20, 2011 with musical performances from Christina Aguilera, Justine Bieber, Kelly Clarkson and Chris Brown.

After being declared as the big winner, Taylor Swift expressed her sincere gratitude to her supportive fans and family. Truly is, Taylor Swift has once again proven her ability to stand out in the music industry.
