President Obama and Secretary Clinton Order Protection of Gay Rights

“Gay rights are human rights and human rights are gay rights.” These are the words used by U.S Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton as she called for the nations to recognize gay rights. Likewise, through a presidential directive, President Barack Obama directed all U.S. agencies to aid, promote and protect the rights of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people.

The presidential directive also includes protection from foreign governments who criminalizes homosexuality and discriminates them in case of medical and foreign aid.

Remarks were intended to commemorate Human Rights Day on Saturday. The date reminded the 1948 signing of the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights.

According to the U.S. Secretary of the State declared that religious beliefs and other practices is not an excuse to discriminate or inflict violence to gay people. Clinton also added that gay people are born and belong to every society. United Nations nowadays has promoted gay rights, providing equal rights for all.

Meanwhile, gay rights groups admired the effort as a significant step in protecting the rights of gays and lesbians around the world and giving value to their existence.

Joe Solmonese, president of the Human Rights Campaign said that Pres. Obama has made it clear that United States will not allow any abuse to human rights, regardless of religion, sex, cultural belief, etc.
