Zsa Zsa Gabor asks to be read last rites
Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor has asked a priest last night to read her the last rites as she continues to be in very serious condition at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
She was admitted after breaking her hip, but developed complications after undergoing hip surgery to remove blood clots on Saturday.
The 93 year-old Gabor, a Hollywood legend famous for having wed nine rich husbands, was visited by a priest at the hospital. According to her publicist John Blanchette, the actress was conscious but was able to speak “very little.”
Gabor broke her hip on July 17 as she was getting out of bed after watching the TV game show “Jeopardy”. After being discharged on Wednesday, she was readmitted on Friday because of complications.
“Her health has been up and down ever since,” said Blanchette
Born Sari Gabor in Budapest on February 6, 1918, Zsa Zsa Gabor was brought up by her sisters Magda and Eva.
The actress has more than 30 films to her credit and became the epitome of the phrase, “famous for being famous.” Among her wealthy husbands was Jack Ryan, the inventor of the Barbie Doll, and Von Anhalt, the Duke of Saxony, their marriage making her a princess.
“I don’t believe in living in sin, so I always got married,” she said.
Gabor’s 1993 exercise video, “It’s Simple Darling”, featuring her and two muscular personal trainers clad in tights, has become a hit on YouTube.
