Celebrity plastic surgeon Frank Ryan dies in car accident

Celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Frank Ryan, famous for performing surgeries on TV star Heidi Montag, died on Monday when his 1995 Jeep Wrangler went out of control and plunged off Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, the California Highway Patrol says.

Ryan had a long list of celebrity clients including Montag, actor Lorenzo Lamas, musician Vince Neil, reality TV stars Lisa Gastineau and Adrianne Curry and many models and beauty queens.

The doctor performed 10 procedures on 23-year old Montag last year, and the TV star posted her reaction to his death on social site Twitter.

“I am devastated. He was the most amazing person I have ever known,” Montag said. He was an angel and changed my life and the lives of everyone he met. He was the most brilliant talented surgeon who will ever exist. Dr. Frank Ryan changed the world.”

An autopsy is set to be done by the Ventura County medical examiner’s office.

Another reality TV star Janice Dickinson, one of Ryan’s clients, said that she was “deeply, deeply anguished” when she heard of the accident, according to her publicist.

“She is stunned and wants the world to know what a genius Dr. Ryan was,” publicist Brad Taylor said Tuesday.

In a statement released Tuesday, Ryan, who had two procedures done by Ryan, said that she and the surgeon had “in-depth conversations about him wanting to start a family of his own, now that he had a very successful career.”

“I considered him a friend,” she said.

Among the surgeon’s famous celebrity friends was boxer and promoter Oscar Dela Hoya. Ryan went to see all his fights from 2002 until the boxer’s retirement last year.
