Texas Rangers Outfielder Josh Hamilton Suffers Relapse Due to Alcohol Drinking
Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton, who is allegedly recovering from alcohol and drug addictions, had a relapse this week.
Accordingly, Hamilton had been drinking alcohol and was sighted drinking in one of the pubs in Dallas on Monday. This is Hamilton's second alcohol-related relapse in three years.
When asked about their opinion about the issue, Rangers said that they are aware of Hamilton’s situation, but that they can not give any further comments about it.
Hamilton had been suspended for three years for drug abuse and alcohol drinking while he was still associated with the Tampa Bay organization.
Since joining the major leagues in 2007 with Cincinnati, Josh Hamilton has had Johnny Narron, former amateur coach, as an "accountability partner." Narron had then agreed to become assistant batting coach to the Rangers.
However, Johnny Narron left the team after the last season and became Milwaukee's hitting coach. The Rangers opted to hire Hamilton's father-in-law, Michael Dean Chadwick, to handle the position left by Narron as batting coach, but he declined. This resulted to Hamilton’s not having an "accountability partner". To ease up the situation, the Rangers brought in Don Kalkstein this week as the team’s sports psychologist.
