Cause of Whitney Houston’s Death: Prescription Drugs Combined with Alcohol

Whitney Houston was presumed to have died due to the over dosage of a combination of the drug Xanax and other prescription medications she had been taking alongside with alcohol, TMZ reported.

L.A. County Coroner officials informed the actress’s family members that the cause of her death might be that of her taking prescription drugs combined with alcohol intake.  The officials further said that there was not enough water found in Whitney’s lungs to conclude that the cause of her tragic death is because of drowning. They further said that she may have died before she submerged in the bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel where her body was found on Saturday.

Mary Jones, Whitney's aunt, found the actress’s lifeless body in the bathtub.  Half an hour later, at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, somebody from the singer’s entourage called the hotel security to break the tragic news.

Whitney’s mother, the gospel singer Cissy Houston, has arranged for her remains to be flown back to Atlanta on Tuesday, TMZ reported.  Her family was allegedly told that since there is no suspicion of foul play on her death, police have not found any reason to put a hold on the singer’s body, and gave permission for it to be transported.

Investigation committee assigned to scrutinize the cause of the death of the singer-actress announced that they will be looking into the pop icon's activities and demeanor the past days, and even the past hours, before she was found dead in the bathtub.

Whitney Houston had been staying at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, where she was going to “grace” the annual pre-Grammy party thrown by music industry executive Clive Davis. It was at the same event where she had her debut to the music industry and eventually, to the world, nearly thirty years ago.

Houston, whose constant struggle with drugs and alcohol in her later years and who was even forced to undergo rehabilitation last year brought about her “personal decline,” reportedly spent Friday night at the bar of the Beverly Hilton hotel with a group of friends. This was the night before she was found dead.  Accordingly, she spent long hours in the bar, drinking and being very loud.

Whitney was with her 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, who was also staying in the same hotel with her mother, and performed a duet with Price in the early hours of Friday morning, in what would become the last performance of her life.
