Whitney Houston’s Body Arrives at Hometown New Jersey
Whitney Houston's body has arrived in New Jersey, her home state, on Monday night. The funeral of the pop icon is expected later this week.
A private plane owned by the actor-producer Tyler Perry which carried Whitney’s remains landed at an airport in Teterboro, New Jersey. It was just expected that security would be tight, and it was. A gold hearse where the pop icon’s body was laid left the airport and arrived at around midnight at the Whigham funeral home in Newark, the city where Houston was born. Her fans waited and gathered outside the place.
Houston's family spoke person said that plans for the memorial services had not yet been fully decided, but media reports announced that there would be a public viewing for the sake of family and friends and that the pop superstar’s funeral would be held later this week.
Whitney, who died at 48, had a humble beginning as a church choir singer and eventually became one of the world’s most famous and most admired best-selling performers of her time.
The pop superstar won 6 Grammy Awards and more than 400 other awards in her almost three-decade career. Among her blockbuster films is "The Bodyguard" which also starred the dashing actor Kevin Costner, who portrayed the role as “the bodyguard” of the most popular pop icon portrayed by Whitney Houston herself which elicited a lot of praises and approval in the film industry. Along with the film is her best hit single "I Will Always Love You" which is also the soundtrack of the film.
But Whitney’s huge success was overshadowed later in life by her drinking and drug-related problems. Allegedly, she suffered a long battle of addiction to alcohol, cocaine and marijuana; and even divulging these facts on some TV talk shows. She was reportedly brought in rehab in May 2011.
The pop icon’s death prompted numerous music industry stars to express adoration for her as a person and in her contribution and unquestionable rise to the top of the music world.
