Jeremy "Linsanity Fever” Rising in Canada

'Linsanity' fever invaded Canada with a winter storm force as Jeremy Lin, the National Basketball Association's (NBA) newest star, visited the league's most northern outpost on Valentine's Day.

A game between two teams who lost would not usually qualify as a big event but Lin, who was once the no-name benchwarmer but turned out to be NBA sensation in a week, made the New York Knicks' visit to the Toronto Raptors the hottest must-see game in town.

Jeremy Lin's staggering appeal is pegged in his “movie-like” story of once just sleeping on a team mate's couch one day and living the American dream the next.

The 'Linderella' sensational story continued at the Air Canada Centre as Lin, a Taiwanese American newbie in the NBA, garnered a three-pointer from nowhere with only a half-second to play placing the Raptors behind with the final score of 90-87.

That amazing move from Lin marks the Knicks’ sixth win in a row, with “Linderella” acting as their driving force.

Lin definitely got Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni’s full attention and hopes that the 23-year-old hunk could perpetually set the team on fire.   "He's a tough kid; you don't know that until you go into games with him.  He's really tough, mentally he's there,” D'Antoni told reporters.

New York finished the game against the Raptors with Lin's high 27 points with 11 assists.

Jeremy Lin, who played as a point guard in Harvard, is the first ever Taiwanese-American to be an athlete in the NBA.

His coaches, team mates, supporters and even Lin himself couldn’t explain the fortunate sequence of events that took him from being an anonymous benchwarmer to one of the sensational stars in NBA.
