Monsoon Rain Floods 2 Million Filipinos

Heavy rain that was brought by the southwest monsoon has caused death of 49 people and most of the provinces and cities were still submerged in floods. Besides the death toll, there were also 6 persons that are reported to be missing while 4 people were injured.

2.11 million Filipinos were affected by the monsoon rains, 580,079 of which are in the evacuation centers and were given their basic services and needs.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management have reported that Regions I, III and IV-A, together with 80 municipalities and cities in Metro Manila were still under heavy floods.

Meanwhile, several places were declared to be in state of calamity including Malabon, Marikina, Navotas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, San Juan, Pasay, Pasig, Pateros and Caloocan in Metro Manila. Bataan, Pamapanga, Bulacan, Olongapo City, Zambales and Laguna were also included in the list.

In addition, NDRRMC have reported that the government gave relief goods worth P7.935 million.

Moreover, dams have reached their critical levels. Included are Angat dam, Pantabangan dam, and Caliraya dam.

The latest forecast of the weather bureau claimed that there will be occasional rains in the western part of central and Northern Luzon.
