Kirstie Alley Defends John Travolta Gay Allegations

After the fuss about that four men who came forward earlier this year and accused John Travolta of sexually assaulting them, the married-with-children actor never said a word about his innocence or even if it was true that he’s gay. But his longtime friend Kirstie Alley is sticking up for him.

In a “20/20” interview with Barbara Walters that is set to air this week, the “Dancing With the Stars” contestant insists, “I know John with all my heart and soul; he’s not gay. I think in some weird way, in Hollywood, if someone gets big enough and famous enough, and they're not out doing drugs and they're not womanizing, what do you say about them? I think people think that’s the supreme insult … ‘he’s gay!’”

It was reported last week that Alley, 61, also exposed to Walters her true feelings for Travolta when they were filming “Look Who’s Talking” in 1989. She even called him “the greatest love of my life”.

The former “Cheers” star, who was married at the time to Parker Stevenson, added, "It took everything I had inside, outside, whatever, to not run off and marry John and be with John for the rest of my life. I feel like when you marry someone, you're supposed to work hard at it and you're supposed to make it work."

Travolta, 58, and his wife of 20 years, Kelly Preston, have certainly found a way to make it work. Throughout all of the sexual assault accusations, she was by her husband’s side. In late June, just weeks after the allegations were first made public, Preston walked out the red carpet with Travolta for the L.A. premiere of his movie, “Savages” and even put on a happy face after he planted a super-awkward kiss on her lips for the cameras.
