Nato Will Intervene If Syria Uses Chemical Weapons

The situation in Syria seems to be getting even more gruesome as the possibility of chemical warfare may be brought into question.

U.S. government appears to have sources that say the Syrian army is preparing to use its rather impressive chemical arsenal against rebels who have been making advances and are approaching Assad’s power base.

Sources inside U.S. intelligence agencies specify that Syria has made preparations for the possible use of chemical weapons. Syria apparently has the technological capabilities to create vast quantities of mustard gas and sarin, and also VX nerve gas agent.

The largely Sunnite forces opposing Basher al-Assad have been gaining ground and have managed to lead the fight towards Damascus, Syria's capital city and power base of Assad’s forces.

In an attempt to regain lost ground Assad’s forces have increased air strikes on known rebel bases.

However efforts seem to be in vain as Assad’s system seems to crumble from inside, with the Syria's Foreign Ministry’s spokesman defection being the latest in an ever increasing list.

NATO member states said that the use of chemical weapons is unacceptable and would lead to certain military intervention from the international community.

The official position of Syria's official government is that chemical weapons were never even considered.
