Nelson Mandela Admitted To Hospital

Former South African president and anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela was admitted to the hospital this Saturday. The reasons are not exactly clear but it seems that it was just in the interest of some medical tests and it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

The South African government with a representative from President Jacob Zuma’s office assured the people of South Africa and the press that there is no reason for concern, although he didn't give out any details on the condition of the 94 year old Nelson Mandela.

He added “Former President Mandela will receive medical attention from time to time which is consistent with his age,” he also said that “President Zuma assures all that Madiba is doing well and there is no cause for alarm”.

Nelson Mandela was a symbol of South Africa’s revolt and dismemberment of the oppressive apartheid regime and was voted as the first black president back in 1994 as a result of the country’s first all-race elections.

After retiring to the Eastern Cape region, in in his home town of Qunu, in a poorer part of South Africa, Mandela has had some impressive high profile visitors like former U.S. President Bill Clinton.

Nelson Mandela had a similar episode in February but was released hastily after doctors concluded that the ex-president was perfectly healthy.
