“The Hobbit” Is Starting To Earn Big

The much anticipated “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” was expected to have a big result at the box office and so far it’s not disappointing.

Warner Bros. have recently announced that “The Hobbit” had earned an estimated 13 million dollars in midnight showings alone. The result was made in 3100 theaters making an estimate income of about 4200 dollars per theater.

This comes as little surprise to anyone seeing as this is the prequel to one of the biggest movie franchises in history “The Lord of the Rings”.

Out of the 12 million dollars 1.6 million come from IMAX theaters alone. The predicted 110 million dollars debut of “The Hobbit” makes this movie the fifth highest grossing movie of the year after “The Avengers” with $207 million, “The Dark Knight Rises” with $160 million, “The Hunger Games” with $152 million and “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” with $141 million.

However, the Hobbit is expected to come out better then all these movies seeing how it has a bigger family appeal and how no family would take a child to see a long movie that airs at midnight.

“The Hobbit” is predicted to have a better first weekend than other big special effect movies like “Avatar” who grossed $77 million or “I am Legend” who grossed about $77 million too.
