Both NORAD And Google Offer Santa Tracker
With the North American Aerospace Defense Command, also known as NORAD keeping up its almost 50 year tradition of monitoring and keeping track of Santa’s progress during Christmas night, Microsoft seems to be the important partner this year, helping deal with the traffic spike with the help of its Azure cloud platform.
Microsoft GM Tim Solms said “We’re excited about it and excited about supporting the folks who are out there 24/7”
NORAD first offered a phone number with contact information for a Santa hotline in 1955. This year more than 1500 volunteers are expected to help out with the effort.
The people at NORAD have also produced a series of free tracking apps for Apple, Google, Android and Microsoft platforms. The other big name offering a Santa tracker on the internet is Google with its Google Maps Santa Tracker. The Google Santa Tracker shows where Santa is headed and his next destination. When Santa is travelling you can see the picture of a sleigh on the map.
The site also shows how many presents he has delivered as well as his status updates like “Ho Ho Ho! My favorite day of the year!”. The Santa tracker page is very brightly colored with a festive theme so kids will love it.
