Cincinnati Win Belk Bowl With Last Minute Effort

With both teams eager to end the day with the Belk Bowl trophy in their hands the game was very disputed and finished in dramatic style.

With Duke absent from any bowl appearances for almost two decades since they appeared at the Hall of Fame Bowl in 1995, and with their last win dating way back to the 1961 Cotton Bowl, this game represented a lot for the team.

Sadly, Duke will have to wait some more for a new bowl win as the Cincinnati Bearcats played a fantastic last couple of minutes forcing not one, but two fumbles in the Blue Devils territory to win The Belk Bowl by a score of 48 to 34.

With Duke gaining an early lead of 16 to 0, Cincinnati had only one solution, to score and score they did, coming back with 27 straight points.

The fourth quarter saw the two teams exchange lead before coming to a tie at 34.Then an 83 yard strike ended in a touchdown by tight end Travis Kelce, putting Cincinnati in the lead.

The Belk Bowl’s fate was sealed when Duke Quarterback Sean Renfree’s fumbled ball ended in a touchdown for the Cincinnati Bearcats. This Belk Bowl win marked Cincinnati’s fifth season with a minimum of 10 wins.
