Philadelphia Sets To Release Andy Reid

Reports have given indications that Coach Andy Reid will be fired after the end of the season and the announcement will be made soon.

Jeffrey Lurie, the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles, reportedly met with Andy Reid recently and the discussion included his future in the team. However, the Eagles denied the report. The team added that Lurie will be meeting with Reid on Monday. Reid also denied that there were discussions about his status in the team with Lurie.

Andy Reid indicated that Lurie has always had the best interest on the team in all his decisions and he will understand whatever decisions Lurie will make in the future.

The Philadelphia Eagles lost against the New York Giants in their final game and ended the season with a 4-12 record. Andy Reid has been with the Eagles for 14 seasons and compiled a 130-92-1 regular season record. He brought the Eagles into the playoff nine times and one appearance in the Super Bowl.

The reported decision in letting go of Andy Reid is not surprising since the team aims to sign some of the biggest names in the coaching market. Reports have revealed that Bill O’Brien of Penn State and Chip Kelly of Oregon are among the names floated for the coaching job at Philadelphia.

On the other hand, Andy Reid is looking into the possibility of hooking up with the San Diego Chargers. However, it appears that San Diego may not be too willing to take in Reid, who would want to more control of the personnel in the team.

It seems that Jeffrey Lurie may have been disappointed in sticking with Andy Reid this season, even though he indicated that an 8-8 record was unacceptable, the team did not make much progress as the season ended.
