Argo Big The Winner From Golden Globes

With what seemed to be another less than fantastic award show, the two hosts, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler seemed to make the whole event bearable with some cleverly written and well played performances.

Without doubt the high point of the Golden Globes evening was Jodie Foster’s speech. As she accepted the Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement, a very nervous and emotional Jodie Foster gave a lengthy speech announcing that she is retiring from show business. She also mentioned how thankful she was for being in show business all her life and how it affected her life as both a daughter and a mother.

As far as the Golden Globes awards, the unexpected winner for best picture was Ben Affleck’s “Argo”. Daniel Day-Lewis won the Golden Globe for best actor for his portrayal in "Lincoln" and the award for best screenwriting went to Quentin Tarantino for his controversial “Django Unchained”.

“Les Miserables” scored big at the Golden Globes for best musical and best actor and best supporting actress, for the stars of the movie Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway.

The Golden Globes seemed a bit tamer as hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler didn’t go the way that previous host Ricky Gervais went by bashing the Foreign Press and countless nominees.
