Online Review Websites Do Not Influence Hotel Selection Among Travellers
A recent survey revealed that online review websites, such as TripAdvisor, hardly make any influence in the way people choose the hotel that they want to stay in while on a trip.
The survey conducted by Market Metrix indicated that out of the 40,000 respondents, only 2.9 percent have indicated that they chose a particular hotel because of a positive review on online review websites. A review from online review websites was not among the most important factor when people will select a hotel.
The survey respondents included around 40,000 travelers from Europe, Asia, and the United States. The respondents of the survey were able to travel last year.
In addition to the feedback and comments on an online review website, another factor that was not given importance by travelers is the facilities, services and special amenities of a hotel. The green program of a hotel was at the bottom of the list.
For the moment, the location of the hotel is the primary concern of travelers, which had a survey result of 30.2 percent. The second most important factor is the price of the hotel room and previous experiences of the traveler.
Recommendations from a friend or a colleague were fourth based on the survey that did not give importance to reviews by an online review website.
