Daniel Radcliffe Talks About Playing A Gay Character

Daniel Radcliffe is certainly not going to be typecast as a likable wizard and is definitely maturing as an artist while shedding the Harry Potter stigma.

In his latest movie “Kill Your Darlings”, Daniel Radcliffe plays the gay poet Allen Ginsberg. In the movie, set in 1944, a murder brings the poet and two of his writer friends back together. They are William Burroughs played by Ben Foster and Jack Kerouac played by Jack Huston.

The movie has some very intense sex scenes; the one’s that got the most attention being the gay ones.

In regards to the talked about sex scenes Daniel Radcliffe said “It was something new … But you know what, we shot that whole scene in maybe an hour and a half so it was incredibly fast-paced. I didn't really have time to stop to think and worry about it."

He also said that the scene was made easier by director John Krokidas’ helpful details and by the fact that him and the actor who played Ginsberg’s love interest in the movie got to hang out a bit together on set.

Daniel Radcliffe said that when doing such an intense and personal scene it’s great to hang out with the partner and get a feeling that ”you’re both in it together.”
