Shove Was A Reaction According To Cary Williams

Following the interception of a Colin Kaepernick pass by Ed Reed, a referee was shoved by Cary Williams using both hands. In a typical game, this act would result in a penalty and an ejection for the player. However, this was not a typical game, this was Super Bowl XLVII.

The act did not result in a penalty nor the ejection of Cary Williams. Williams said that what he did was a reaction after his helmet was taken off during the scuffle. He was not aware of the person he pushed. He added that some players were pulling at each other and his teammates were getting hit after the whistle was blown.

Cary Williams indicated that he could not see clearly during the scuffle and it was a simple reaction on his part.

It can be recalled that Bill Belichick, the coach of the New England Patriots received a $50,000 fine after he grabbed the arm of a referee following the end of a game.

Cary Williams said that the offensive line was playing tough in between the whistles. He felt that some people were playing a little dirty and they did things after the whistle was blown. He felt that flags should have been thrown early in the game to stop what was happening.

Williams added that the defense of the Ravens has been tough for a number of years to show other teams that they cannot be pushed around. However, Cary Williams indicated that they do not do it after the whistle is blown.

Since he did not get a penalty or an ejection, Cary Williams may be considered as the most fortunate player during the Super Bowl XLVII.
