Michael Vick Takes Pay Cut To Stay With Eagles
Michael Vick the four time Pro Bowl QB has agreed to take a significant pay cut in order to remain with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The athlete signed a restructured three year contract after first signing a $100 million extension two years ago.
With the extension being just for one year, sources inside’s Vick’s entourage say that the athlete could end up making a cold $10 million for the 2013 season if he meets all performance incentives.
With Vick losing his starting position to rookie Nick Foles, the opportunity to regain his place was given by coach Chip Kelly who said that while Vick’s new deal will make a change, it won’t be a change of address.
Michael Vick who had a fantastic 2010 with the Eagles, winning The Associated Press Comeback Player of the Year has had a tough time following his success due to inconsistency after a series of injuries.
Vick said through his Twitter account that “I am grateful and proud to be a Philadelphia Eagle … My heart is in Philly and this community is important to me."
Coach Chip Kelly added that he wanted the 32 year old Michael Vick in his team to provide his specific set of skills, and that together with the slower but more precise Nick Foles he would form a team that will be built for the “long haul”.
