Google Glass Shows Up On eBay

A recent post on eBay showed the Google Glass being auctioned attracted bids that went over $15,000 before it was taken out.

The poster, who went by the name bla7kcat, indicated that the item was authentic. He added that he was chosen to be an early adapter of the upcoming device offering from Google. However, some industry watchers had some doubts on the authenticity of the device posted on the website.

There were no reports about people being chosen to use the Google Glass in public aside from Sergey Brin. The Project Glass of Google shows some information about the upcoming device. It indicates that some people will be given the opportunity to pay $1,500 to use the product in public, which may attract the attention of just about everyone on the street.

The invitations given to the selected individuals will not be transferrable. Applications for using the Google Glass device are already closed.

The post on eBay showing the device was removed after bids started to hit the $16,000 level. It may also be possible for the person who posted the device on eBay to have access to the glasses from Google. However, he does not appear to be an insider since he indicated on the eBay post that he will pick up the device during one of the launch events of the internet search giant.

People who applied for the opportunity to use the Google Glass in public had to send an application that contained five images along with a fifteen-second video.
