Danica Patrick Crashes At Phoenix
Danica Patrick crashed into a wall after her tire exploded during the race in Phoenix last Sunday. Fortunately she avoided getting injured although her car was severely damaged.
This comes a week after she stood out among the drivers at the Daytona 500. The day did not go quite well for Patrick before her tire blew up unexpectedly. The incident happened on the 185th lap of the race.
The car went full speed straight into the wall that caused the right side to be crushed. It then bounced off before hitting the car of David Ragan as it went back into the track. This resulted to the sheet metal on the driver side of the car of Danica Patrick to come off.
She was thankful for the safer barriers on the race track, which were the “soft walls” installed in all tracks of the NASCAR. She was relieved that the barriers were already in place when she started racing. She also emphasized their importance in the race.
Last week, Danica Patrick was the first woman driver to take the lead in the Daytona 500, where she finished in eighth place. But, after the crash, she moved down to the thirty-ninth place in Phoenix.
Although she indicated that her team was progressing, the day was not that good at all. She said that the fact that she remained on the lead lap for most part of the race indicated that it was a decent day for her. Patrick was also hoping to finish in the top twenty after the race. However, this all changed after she crashed into the wall.
She said that you cannot expect your tire to blow while at full speed and once it happens, it is not possible to slow down the car. Danica Patrick added that they will feel even bigger whenever you go in head-first.
