JetBlue Airways Corp (NASDAQ:JBLU) Premium Seats In The Works

Premium seats will soon become available on a number of cross-country flights of JetBlue Airways Corp (NASDAQ:JBLU) as it tries to attract well-to-do clients.

The premium seats, which will be offered next year, will be available for daytime flights but it will not be sold for red-eye flights.

The plans were revealed by Robin Hayes, the chief commercial officer of JetBlue Airways Corp (NASDAQ:JBLU), during a recent investor meeting. However, the specific details were not revealed during the meeting including the price for the premium seats. Hayes indicated that the details of the upcoming program will be announced before the end of the year.

The airline is servicing the New York to Los Angeles and San Francisco routes. Major airlines like American, United and Delta offer cross-country, non-stop flights where business and first class seats are available. On the other hand, Southwest Airlines does not offer a similar service for its clients.

Hayes revealed that the transcontinental service of the company is not as strong as its other flights due to the absence of Wi-Fi internet connectivity and premium seats. Passengers may not need Wi-Fi access when travelling in shorter flights. However they may opt to fly a five to six hour flight with an airline that provides connectivity.

The airline is planning to offer Wi-Fi connectivity for all its flights and some of the planes will offer the service within the year. Two of the contractors of the airline company are already evaluating the service.

JetBlue Airways Corp (NASDAQ:JBLU) shares increased by $0.07 recently as it closed at $6.94.
